Payment and Refund Policy

This Payment and Refund Policy outlines the terms governing lesson bookings, payments, cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds on Mathagoras (“Mathagoras”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). By booking a lesson, purchasing a package, or making a payment through our website, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Payment Processing

Mathagoras provides secure online payment processing for lesson bookings and educational services.
All payments are processed through trusted third-party payment providers, including Stripe and other supported payment methods available during checkout.
Mathagoras does not store or have access to complete payment card information. Payment information is securely handled by our payment service providers in accordance with industry security standards.

2. Accepted Payment Methods

Mathagoras currently accepts payments through Stripe using supported credit and debit cards available during checkout.
For students who require alternative payment methods, such as Alipay, GPay, Apple Pay or other supported digital wallets, Mathagoras may, at its discretion, provide secure Stripe payment links outside the standard website checkout process.
Available payment methods may vary depending on location, device, payment provider availability, and platform limitations.

3. Booking Confirmation

A lesson, package, or service is generally considered confirmed when:

  • Payment has been successfully completed; and
  • A booking confirmation has been generated by the platform.

In certain circumstances, Mathagoras may permit bookings with delayed payment arrangements or payment links. In such cases, confirmation may remain pending until payment has been successfully received.

Upon successful payment, customers will receive:

  • A booking confirmation email; and
  • A payment receipt.

Mathagoras reserves the right to cancel or reject bookings that remain unpaid or are suspected of fraudulent activity.

4. Lesson Packages and Validity

Lesson packages are subject to the validity period stated at the time of purchase.
Unless otherwise specified:

  • Purchased lessons under packages must be scheduled within three (3) months from the date of purchase. 
  • Scheduling remains subject to tutor availability and platform capacity.
  • Unused lessons that remain unscheduled after the package validity period may expire.

Any package-specific terms displayed at checkout shall take precedence over general package terms.

5. Rescheduling Policy

Students and parents may reschedule a lesson subject to their availability.

  • More than 24 Hours Before the Lesson may generally be rescheduled without penalty.
  • Less than 24 Hours Before the Lesson, rescheduling requests may be declined or counted as a used lesson, except in exceptional circumstances.
  • If a tutor is unable to conduct a scheduled lesson, Mathagoras will offer rescheduling of the lesson, depending on whether the tutor missed a lesson without prior notice within 24 hours before the lesson time.

6. Refund Policy

Individual Lessons: Refunds are generally not available once a lesson has been completed.
Package Purchases: Refunds are generally not available for partially used lesson packages.

Exceptional Circumstances

Mathagoras understands that genuine situations may occasionally arise.
Refund requests may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for circumstances including:

  • Technical issues that prevent lesson delivery
  • Duplicate payments
  • Incorrect charges
  • Tutor-related service failures
  • Other exceptional situations deemed reasonable by Mathagoras

Approval of any refund remains at the sole discretion of Mathagoras. It also depends on the refund policy of the payment gateway used at the time of booking.

Where a refund is approved, processing times may vary depending on the payment provider, banking institution, and payment method originally used. Mathagoras is not responsible for delays caused by third-party payment processors or financial institutions.

7. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks

If you experience a payment issue, we encourage you to contact Mathagoras before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute.
We are committed to resolving genuine concerns promptly and fairly.
Fraudulent or abusive chargeback activity may result in:

  • Account suspension;
  • Booking restrictions; or
  • Permanent removal from the platform.

8. Customer Information

To process bookings and provide educational services, Mathagoras may collect information including:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Country or location
  • Student information relevant to the lesson
  • Booking details

This information is used to:

  • Process bookings and payments
  • Generate receipts and confirmations
  • Deliver lesson-related communications
  • Provide customer support

Customers are responsible for ensuring that all information provided during booking is accurate and up to date.
Mathagoras is not responsible for issues arising from incorrect, incomplete, or inaccessible contact information.

9. Secure Transactions

Mathagoras uses trusted third-party payment processors and industry-standard security measures to help protect customer transactions.
Sensitive payment information is not stored directly by Mathagoras.
